The first NBA Basketball School (NBS) camp in the United States was a milestone. Thought out to the smallest detail, the USA Camp / Cleveland Tour was a ten-day camp held in the city of Cleveland (Ohio), in collaboration with the Cavaliers, the 2016 NBA champion.
Around 40 young athletes from Brazil's NBS program had unique and incredible training, experiences and learning experiences, in an unprecedented program that offered training in high-performance academies, trips to NBA, NBA G-League and hockey games, talks with basketball professionals, meetings with NBA athletes, visits to places that are part of LeBron James' journey - including a meeting with Gloria James, the star's mother - and much more.
Brazil is, nowadays, the number 1 in the NBS program in the world (outside the USA), with more than 13,000 athletes, from 6y to 17y, boys and girls, in addition to a network of more than 1,000 coaches and 210 centers distributed across the country - the largest development network of sports in Brazil.
For ten days, the young group, in addition to the coaches team who attended the camp, were able to immerse themselves in the universe of 'the best basketball in the world', getting to know the Cavaliers' structure from the inside (offices, operations, talks from executives), even environments such as Cavs Legion (esports), Training Center, a dedicated day at a food bank (Cavs Care) and a chance to play in the arena (Rocket MortGage FieldHouse).
The Cleveland Tour also generated important content and media opportunities. ESPN displays daily content produced by the on-site Communications/PR team, in addition to important media outlets/channels such as 'The Players Tribune', UOL, GE.com and Maquina do Esporte, among others, generating a media return of more than US$ 300,000.
The NBS USA Camp / Cleveland Tour was a unique experience and places Brazil at an important level of prominence on the league's global stage. The second edition has already been confirmed for January 2025 and, more than the passion for the game, more than an opportunity to breathe sports 24 hours a day, the objective is to surprise even more.
