Nikhil's journey within Okta is a testament to his dedication and expertise in crafting advanced software solutions. As a Software Architect, he plays a pivotal role in architecting scalable systems that leverage cutting-edge technologies to meet and exceed the evolving requirements of Okta's customers.

Having joined Okta in 2013 as a software engineer, Nikhil has steadily progressed through various roles over the past 11 years. His journey from a software engineer to senior, then to Staff, and finally to Principal level reflects his continuous growth and contributions to the company. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of Software Architect and serves as the technical team lead for the Universal Directory (UD) team.

The Universal Directory (UD) stands as a cornerstone product within Okta's ecosystem, akin to LDAP or AD directory storage systems. It shoulders the responsibility of managing extensive user data and their group relationships, catering to millions of identities spread across more than 18,000 enterprise customers.

Functioning as the entry point to Okta's ecosystem, the UD holds immense significance for every new customer and user. Much like how many of us rely on our morning coffee to kickstart our day, millions of end-users depend on Okta to initiate their workday. The UD plays a pivotal role in this process by authenticating valid users before granting them access to their company portals or servers. Handling billions of unique logins, Okta ensures that each login is validated against our UD system, maintaining the security and integrity of Okta's identity management services.
Nikhil has worked on multiple features from its inception to design to implementation and finally delivery to the customers. HIs attention to details has helped design a system which is sustainable, scalable and performant.
Nikhil's expertise and leadership within the UD team ensure that Okta continues to provide seamless and secure identity management solutions, empowering enterprises worldwide to navigate the complexities of modern digital environments with confidence.
